Description

To contribute effectively to the successful learning experiences of students in the SWFCCP through effective teaching that meets or exceeds education standards and results in high levels of student retention and achievement.

Main Duties

  • To teach GCSE maths
  • To teach Functional Skill maths
  • To provide revision sessions for maths
  • To create Schemes of work, in line with the appropriate specification and funding requirements
  • To teach on Employability programmes, as required.
  • Ensure an engaging and motivating learning experience for students through successful teaching and personal tutoring. These should be to the standard of funders and Ofsted
  • To make a significant contribution to curriculum development and course co-ordination
  • To teach on programmes in other service delivery areas as may be reasonably required.
  • To utilise BKSB for initial assessments
  • To deliver ‘Good’ rated lessons and above
  • To organise the booking of maths exams, where appropriate
  • To offer students a high quality learning experience to achieve the goal or qualification for which they are studying.
  • To teach effectively on a range of courses and programmes.
  • Monitor students’ overall attendance across the programme and complete registers as appropriate.
  • To assist with audits and External quality assurance reviews.
  • Work positively and collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that students have the best opportunity to flourish and succeed
  • Ensure that appropriate challenging student targets are effectively set and monitored
  • To develop course materials, schemes of work, lesson plans etc. and make these available through the shared information system.
  • Systematically improve the quality of learning activities, ensuring that they meet quality standards and result in improving student success rates
  • Keep up-to-date with qualification frameworks, subject specifications, assessment procedures within your subject area
  • Systematically improve the quality of learning activities, ensuring that they meet quality standards and result in improving student success rates
  • To contribute to the organisational requirements
  • To carry out all duties and responsibilities with due regard to Equal Opportunity Policies and Health and Safety policies
  • To undertake liaison, administrative, tutorial and pastoral duties for one or more groups of full-time or part-time students
  • To deliver tutorial content to Post-16 programmes
  • To work cooperatively with the Education Managers and colleagues to achieve objectives
  • Attending and supporting at recruitment events
  • To complete all relevant paperwork records, filing and storing information as appropriate and compliant with GDPR.
  • Conduct work in a manner which is satisfactory to internal and external quality assurance processes.
  • To work across the Community Programme where appropriate.
  • Maintain and uphold customers safety and welfare.
  • To support Equality Diversity & Inclusion practices and procedures in-line with the SWFC EDI action plan.
  • To promote and adhere to safeguarding practices and policies, ensuring that any concerns are logged safely, securely and escalated through the CPOMS System, when necessary.
  • To ensure all requests from the club are managed.
  • To maintain own Continuous Professional Development.
  • To always represent the organisation in a professional manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential

  • Minimum Grade 4/C in maths and English
  • Degree in maths or English or equivalent
  • Teaching qualification e.g. PGCE, Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training

Desirable

  • Basic First Aid Training or willingness to undertake.
  • Safeguarding Certificate

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Teaching experience of Post-16 and adults
  • Teaching experience of English
  • Understanding of every Child Matters
  • Completing schemes of work and lesson plans
  • Assessing learning using a range of methods
  • Experience in quality assurance procedures including internal verification.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Organisation Skills
  • Ability to meet deadline
