Reporting to: Director of Finance

POSITION SUMMARY

The General Accountant supports the Finance department by ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for M. and its associated companies. The role involves managing daily accounting tasks, assisting with budgets and reports, collaborating with regional offices and Head Office, and handling confidential information in compliance with company policies and privacy regulations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA, Accounting designation.
  • University Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
  • Proven Accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or Oil and Gas
  • Advanced excel skill, Competence in MS Office and software systems, preferably JDE.
  • Experience with consolidations.
  • Superior analytical skills.
  • Independent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to show attention to detail and produce accurate work, within the constraint of deadlines.
Responsibilities
  • Perform daily accounting tasks, including journal entries and account reconciliations as directed.
  • Maintain accurate records of accounts payable and receivable across all entities.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with regional offices and Head Office on financial matters.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential financial information responsibly.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
  • Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow activities.
  • Maintain an organized system of financial records and audit trails.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to accounting procedures and systems.
