Description
Wind Turbine Major Component Exchange Technicians specialize in large corrective exchanges at the assigned Wind Turbine site through established procedures with the highest regard for health, safety, and environment compliance. MCE technicians carry out tasks such as cleaning, organizing, disassembly and assembly of large components of wind turbines. As required, they assist in, dismantling, erecting, aligning, adjusting, and/or maintaining machinery and equipment according to installation manuals, work instructions, layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings. They are required to climb vertically at least 300 feet to work at heights. Certified Wind Turbine Technicians must maintain all certifications required for the position. MCE technicians are assigned to multiple projects over a rotation period and is expected to travel to remote client sites.   PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Work with site leadership to execute all contractual obligations and activities set forth with the customers daily, which can include any portion of the electrical, mechanical or balance-of-plant equipment on site. * Perform repairs or replacements of mechanical, hydraulic and/or electrical components to correct malfunctions. * Perform large component exchanges on Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) * On occasion Conduct maintenance of equipment (Cleaning, greasing, lubrication, etc.). * Lead and/or assist with other daily work activities, related to all areas of site operations, as directed by manager, with minimal supervision. * Coordinate with engineering support team when in need of additional troubleshooting/ diagnostic assistance. * Complete and maintain required company and client documentation and records, using computer-based service reporting tools and procedures. * Clean and organize tools, equipment, and work area including sweeping, mopping, wiping oil, grease, solvent spills. * Operate a motor vehicle safely and legally per the Audubon Employee Handbook and insurance requirements. * Maintain required training certifications for position held. These include at a minimum: OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, CPR/AED - First Aid. * Perform Torqueing/tensioning of multiple bolted connections in compliance with installation manuals and bolt torque specifications. * Test electrical components and systems, as well as mechanical and hydraulic systems. * Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical malfunctions * Be able to assist and provide 1st aid when needed as well as perform tower rescues should the need arrive.   EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the position: * High School Diploma or equivalent. * Active GWO Basic Safety Training certificate preferred. * At least one year of experience working around heavy equipment preferred. * Must be able read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, assembly/disassembly, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. * Must have a team-driven attitude and professional customer service skills. * Ability to work on a diverse team. * Ability to use technology apps and devices.
