Description
Engineering & Design • Develop grillage and sea-fastening designs, including steel structures, load‑spreading arrangements, and securing components for project cargo. • Prepare structural calculations, FEM analyses, and design reports according to required engineering standards. • Review cargo drawings, COGs, load cases, and provide optimized engineering solutions for safe marine transport. • Produce detailed fabrication drawings, material specifications, and construction guidelines for workshops and vendors. Project Support & Execution • Support project teams during loadout, lifting, securing, and discharge operations, providing on‑site engineering supervision where required. • Conduct structural inspections of fabricated materials to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications. • Assist in preparing and reviewing method statements, transport engineering studies, and risk assessments. Compliance & Technical Assurance • Ensure all engineering solutions comply with Class, Flag, and international marine and structural standards. • Liaise with classification societies for design approval, engineering submissions, and follow-up of comments and revisions. • Maintain strict adherence to safety standards, company procedures, and project‑specific requirements. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement • Collaborate closely with internal teams—operations, HSE, commercial, fabrication, and procurement. • Communicate technical requirements clearly to clients, subcontractors, shipyards, and workshop teams. • Support tender engineering by preparing preliminary concepts, estimates, and technical clarifications. Documentation & Compliance • Prepare project execution reports, progress updates, daily logs, and completion summaries. • Monitor project schedules, identify risks or delays, and propose mitigation measures. • Track project costs and contribute to budget planning and cost‑control activities. Operational Optimization • Support continual improvement by identifying operational bottlenecks and proposing process enhancements. • Coordinate with commercial and technical teams on lessons learned and improvements for future projects. Engineering Support • Provide engineering support to the Business Units (modification of the vessels, Rules and regulations compliance, etc.). • Assisting the line manager in any other technical related tasks whenever required. Job Profile (Internal) QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Minimum Experience & Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine/Civil Engineering, or related field. • 5+ years of experience in strucural design/marine operations, transport & installation, or heavy lift/deck carrier projects.. Job-Specific Skills: • Proficiency in Microsoft Office • Excellent analytical, communication, decision-making, and client-facing skills. • Ability to manage multimodal transport chains and complex project environments • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tenders simultaneously. • Excellent English language skills, with additional languages preferable • Self-motivated, driven and with attention to detail • Willingness to travel locally and internationally for port calls, loadouts, and project operations. • Strong competency in structural design tools (e.g., STAAD, SACS, ANSYS, Autodesk products, or equivalent). • Demonstrated experience with grillage/sea-fastening, loadout engineering, and structural verification of heavy cargo. • Experience working with deck carriers/barges or module transport vessels. • Familiarity with DNV, ABS, LR, or comparable classification societies. • Knowledge of IMO standards, relevant offshore transport engineering guidelines, and marine warranty surveyor (MWS) requirements.
Responsibilities
The role involves developing grillage and sea-fastening designs, preparing structural calculations and FEM analyses, and reviewing cargo details to provide optimized solutions for safe marine transport. Additionally, the engineer will support project teams during critical operations like loadout and discharge, providing on-site supervision when necessary.
