JOB SUMMARY

The MDS Coordinator will assist MDS and restorative teams regarding proper assessment to residents within their designated facilities. Responsible for assuring compliance with federal and state guidelines regarding RAI process and promoting proper clinical reimbursement for services rendered. RN and MDS preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in weekly Medicare meetings on the same day and time each week.
  • Monitor and evaluate all Medicare admits/discharges.
  • Review every patient on Medicare.
  • Educate the staff on Medicare rules and regulations.
  • Review ABN tracking form to ensure all copies are in the file and timely.
  • Ensure Physician certification process is followed and in compliance.
  • Review all Medicare charting to ensure skilled need is documented for therapy and nursing daily.
  • Review Documentation to ensure Med B supporting documentation is present.
  • Ensure RUGS 48 process is followed consistently.
  • Ensure facility Restorative Program is in compliance with rules and regulations with supporting documentation.
  • Ensure all supporting documentation is present prior to coding MDS.
  • Ensure timely submission of MDS.
  • Provide Education on all areas within job description and others that may be necessary.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Therapy Company, Administrators, Directors of Nursing, and Compliance specialists in order to resolve any issues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Administrator and Director of Nursing.
