May work any time during which the store is open. JOB SUMMARY: Cut, trim and prepare meat, poultry and fish products for the service meat case and customers; wrap and label meat portions. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to communicate pleasantly and efficiently with all customers, vendors, and fellow employees, under all circumstances. Must possess or be able to obtain a food workers permit (health card) if required by the State. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS: Demonstrate consistent ability to cut and trim all meat and poultry as instructed by the Meat Department Manager and company policy. Must complete assigned duties on a daily basis. Must maintain at all times the cleanliness and/or sanitation of the work area. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Serve customers at the service meat case, give preparation advice, and provide orders to customer satisfaction. Place meat product on the scale to weigh, price and accurately label all meat products. Wrap meat products in butcher paper. Shrink wrap large trays and place on a rack and place in the cooler at closing. Prepare salads, ham spreads, kabobs, meat loaf, etc. for the service meat case and customers. Stock and display all meat products. Replace ice in the display case using a bucket and ice scoop and fill with ice from the ice machine. Perform cleaning duties including washing trays and utensils using the three compartment sink; wipe counter tops using a rag and cleaner; clean the display case using a rag and window cleaner. Sweep and mop the area behind the counter using a mop and bucket once a day. Requirements Must be 18 years of age. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to lift, carry and push up to 50 pounds. MACHINE, TOOLS, SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT USED: Scale, labels, box knife, butcher paper, hose, trays, racks, wax paper, utensils, spoons, tongs, broom, mop, rags, cleaner, gloves, baler and compactor.
