Nesters Market has a Part Time opening for a Meat Wrapper in the Meat Department of our store in Gabriola, BC.
Please note – there will be potential future opportunities to join our Journey Meat Cutter Apprenticeship program available for the right candidates. This is a field with great wages and long term career potential!

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Food Safe ticket an asset
  • Knowledge of Meat department operations and skills an asset
  • Positive attitude and superb customer service skills
  • Previous retail or customer service experience in a grocery setting an asset
  • Commitment to health and safety in the workplace, with the ability to work in a safe and responsible manner at all times
  • Must be self-motivated, reliable and able to work independently or in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with a sense of urgency
  • Can juggle multiple tasks, manage your time well, and work well under pressure
  • Able to take direction, adhere to established company policies and follow through with assigned tasks
  • Willingness and availability to work a variety of shifts, including: Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings, Weekends & Holidays
  • Demonstrated high level of communication, interpersonal & conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent command of the English language (both verbal and written)
Responsibilities
  • Ensure that our food quality, quantity, freshness, and presentation meet or exceed our company’s high standards
  • Wrap and package prepared meats
  • Assist with preparing orders for special cuts, as per customer requests
  • Courteously answer all customer inquiries regarding different cuts, serving sizes etc
  • Stocking displays to ensure adequate product levels in the department
  • Ensure all prepared items are properly labeled, covered and rotated
  • Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner
  • Keep department continually clean, organized and free of safety hazards
  • Follow all workplace and food safety policies and practices to ensure a safe work environment
  • Present a neat, fresh, and well-merchandised department
