Overview In business since 1919 and still growing, Arrow is a leader in bulk commodity hauling, reload operations, freight management, logistics, consulting, and technology with operations throughout Canada and the U.S. We are looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join us and become part of our Arrow team in Drayton Valley, AB. We are also open to apprentices who have completed their first year of schooling or higher. For more information please visit www.arrow.ca Responsibilities Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting Maintain a clean and orderly work environment Provide routine maintenance on tractors, trailers and mobile equipment such as forklifts and loaders Check all equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions Diagnose defects in all equipment Diagnose any faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair that is required Perform incidental welding repairs on equipment Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required Operate automotive servicing equipment, e.g. A/C recycler, etc. Ability to operate the equipment that is serviced i.e. bring trucks, trailers and mobile equipment in and out of the shop. May require a Class 1 driving license Installation of new and added-on equipment Electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting diagnostics and repair Ability to effectively and efficiently prioritize daily work Repair cooling, and lubrication systems Diagnose and repair mechanical transmissions, drive-trains and final drives Test repaired equipment for proper performance Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work Instruct apprentices Accurate completion of work orders and time cards Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques Complying with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations, participate in identifying hazards Ability to understand cross training on all functions at facility Other mechanical repair work as required You Possess Journeyman's certificate, Red Seal, or equivalent qualification 1st year or higher apprentices in a certified mechanic program will be considered Clean driver’s abstract with no suspensions Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics Experience with routine maintenance and repair operations Solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment Ability to deal with people tactfully and professionally at all times Ability to work well under pressure Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening At least two job references The embodiment of Arrow's Core Values: Safety, Quality, Integrity, Responsibility, Teamwork, and Fun!
