Description At Hi-Way Paving, we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving, storm drainage, and excavation on highways and airfields. We are seeking a Mechanic C to support our preventive maintenance program. This position reports to our Charlotte Shop but will travel extensively to active job sites throughout our operating areas, performing scheduled maintenance, routine inspections, and basic mechanical repairs on trucks, trailers, and heavy construction equipment. The primary focus of this role is helping identify maintenance needs before they become equipment failures, supporting our field operations by keeping equipment safe, reliable, and ready to work. What You'll Do: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on trucks, trailers, and heavy construction equipment. Travel to job sites to complete routine service and inspections. Perform oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, fluid checks, and other scheduled maintenance. Identify potential mechanical issues and communicate repair needs to the shop. Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule repairs and minimize downtime. Complete maintenance records and inspection documentation. Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Assist with general shop and field maintenance activities as assigned. Requirements Preferred Experience Basic mechanical experience with diesel trucks, trailers, or heavy equipment. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Experience performing preventive maintenance is preferred. Additional Requirements Ability to gain clearance for restricted/high-security zones (e.g., airport AOA, military bases). Willingness to travel 100% of the time. Valid driver's license. Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., climb, walk, kneel, squat, push, pull, and enter confined spaces. If applicable, indicate union affiliation on your application.
