Description Job Purpose and Objectives: Responsible for repairing and maintaining equipment and related work for Montgomery County. Position Requirements and Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Three years of related experience and/or training 3. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Certifications / Licenses: 1. Class C Driver’s License 2. Ability to obtain a Class B CDL License or a Class A CDL with a Tanker Endorsement within one year of hire Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: 1. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos 2. Knowledge of hydraulic systems 3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and the metric system 4. Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work 5. Ability to fulfill all duties with minimal supervision and to work independently 6. Assess situations rapidly and make logical decisions in a timely manner 7. Analyze facts and exercise sound judgment 8. Washes and cleans equipment Changes oil filters, oil, and tires using a service lift truck Checks and arranges supplies in the storeroom, notifies the shop supervisor or clerk when supplies need to be reordered Services, tests, and installs batteries Tests and replaces alternators Makes and changes hydraulic hoses Keeps work area clean and organized Fills out service or work records as required by the shop supervisor Assists other mechanics with equipment repair as assigned by the shop supervisor Installs exhaust mufflers, spark plugs, and accessories Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and safety gear on equipment and makes adjustments as needed Enforces and maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary Complies with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures Operates all job-related equipment, machinery, tools, and other aids as required or needed Protects and maintains any confidential information you have access to, whether oral, written, or electronic
