Qualifications Job Summary  The Mechanic III is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and servicing of fleet and yellow iron equipment. This position requires advanced technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to assist in managing a team of mechanics. Job Duties  1. Ensuring compliance with safety standards 2. Provide support to junior mechanics and apprentices, fostering a positive work environment 3. Conduct complex diagnostics and troubleshoot issues with diesel engines, transmissions, fuel systems, and other vehicle/equipment components utilizing mechanical diagnostics and or system software diagnostics. 4. Perform repairs, including engine repairs, brake system repairs, and electrical system diagnostics. 5. Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize vehicle/equipment downtime and ensure extended life. 6. Ensure all vehicles and equipment are serviced and maintained according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards. 7. Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications. 8. Address any deficiencies or discrepancies promptly, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction and vehicle/equipment safety. 9. Manage inventory of parts and supplies, coordinating with suppliers to ensure availability of necessary materials. 10. Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly calibrated. 11. Communicate effectively with managers, providing detailed explanations of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance services. 12. Offer recommendations for future services and provide cost estimates for repairs and maintenance. 13. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work, including labor, parts used, and time taken into maintenance management system and or any computer database. 14. Prepare and submit vehicle/equipment conditions, and other relevant data. 15. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards. 16. Promote a culture of safety, conducting regular safety meetings and ensuring the team follows proper safety protocols; tasks include but not limited to identifying, mitigating and controlling safety hazards in the workplace. 17. Comply with all company policies and procedures. 18. Any other duties assigned by the manager. Requirements 1. Manages time effectively 2. Valid driver’s license 3. High School diploma or equivalent, technical training in diesel mechanics or related field is preferred 4. 5+ years in diesel mechanics 5. Maintenance certifications in relevant areas; additional certifications for specific vehicle types or systems may be required 6. Strong technical skills in diagnostics and repairs, leadership and team management abilities, excellent communication and customer service skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving capabilities 7. Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various environmental conditions, and stand for extended periods 8. This role may require working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet operational needs 9. Position may also need to travel to different locations or job sites 10. Working directly with drivers and management division
