POSITION SUMMARY

The Mechanic Labourer is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and safe operation of the Town’s heavy-duty equipment and fleet vehicles. This role assists with day-to-day shop operations and ensures all mechanical assets are serviced in compliance with manufacturer standards, Town policies, and safety regulations.

REQUIREMENTS

• Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (Red Seal Certification)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in heavy-duty equipment repair
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 3 with Air Brakes endorsement considered an asset)
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostic software
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty equipment, trucks, and other Town fleet vehicles
• Ensure shop operations comply with Town policies, safety standards, and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation
• Maintain accurate service records and ensure timely completion of work orders
• Coordinate with other departments to schedule equipment maintenance and repairs to minimize operational downtime
• Inspect and troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, transmission, and engine systems
• Assist in managing parts inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships
• Operate equipment as needed to verify repairs
• Perform other duties as assigned
