Description
The Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the fleet equipment. Equipment includes but is not limited to wheel loaders, excavators, skid steers, forklifts, man lifts, and grinders. The Mechanic should have demonstrable work practices with safety as the number one goal. You will perform appropriate preventive maintenance on equipment and necessary repairs to keep machines up and running daily. Reports To Shop Manager * Perform services, diagnostics, and parts replacement for company fleet * Identify problems and come up with viable solutions * Service conveyers and various sorting equipment Qualifications * Work in a team environment * Must have a valid driver’s license * Full-time position with overtime opportunities * Must have own tools (large impact tools will be provided) * Able and willing to learn computer tracking software * Able and willing maintain a clean work environment * ASE certifications and/or vocational/technical training are a plus * Ability to drive a truck with a manual transmission * Ability to work in all weather conditions * Diagnostic and problem-solving skills preferred * Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity * Previous CDL truck driving experience a plus * Waste industry experience is a plus * Experience with routine maintenance operations is required * Knowledge of Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere parts and systems is a plus * Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic schematics Physical Demands / Environmental Factors * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear * Must frequently lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds * Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus * Some regional travel required
