Description Position Overview: The Mechanic is a vital member of the Maintenance and Repair team within RMG. The Mechanic’s primary responsibility is the maintenance and repair of chassis, lift equipment, terminal trucks, generator sets, and containers in order to keep the facility in working order. Maintenance and Repair is fast paced and requires individuals to effectively communicate when working with heavy machinery. The Mechanic must maintain a safe yet efficient mindset when maintaining facility equipment to best assist and support with the successful onward movement of customer cargoes. Essential Responsibilities: Prepare reports on a daily and weekly basis Asses, document, and fix equipment including chassis, lift equipment, terminal trucks, heavy equipment, generator sets, and containers Constructs daily and weekly goals for the maintenance department to complete. Provides guidance and training as needed Diagnostic work using computerized or manual testing equipment Perform routine checks to prevent equipment failures Adjust and replace faulty parts to ensure equipment functionality and safety Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and standards Maintain daily records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and inspections Reports on priorities and work plan to the Maintenance Superintendent Perform daily housekeeping and preventative maintenance duties Trains, leads, and helps other mechanics Requirements 2-10 years experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems Ability to read schematics Experience placing work orders Experience maintaining a parts inventory CMMS experience highly desired Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills Strong communication skills Experience generating reports in different software systems Ability to perform physical demanding tasks and work in various environmental conditions Willingness to teach new team members
