BENEFITS:
PERIOD OF SERVICE REQUIREMENTS:
General Entry Sailor roles now have an Initial Minimum Period of Service (IMPS) between 2 and 3 years for all applicants.
FITNESS REQUIREMENTS:
A Pre-entry Fitness Assessment (PFA) is no longer a requirement for Navy roles, except for Divers. To join the Navy, it’s important that you meet the necessary medical and physical requirements. Regular exercise prior to joining will set you up for success as it is an important part of training and service life.
Once you join, Navy will support your physical conditioning to ensure you’re prepared to serve. You’ll also have access to chef-made meals, gyms, sports and fitness sessions run by physical training instructors.
YOUR ROLE:
Be a part of history, working with conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines. This game-changing capability provides superior stealth, speed and range that meet Australia’s long-term defence needs.
As a Mechanic Nuclear Submariner, you will have a role in the supervision, operation, maintenance and administration of submarine nuclear propulsion plants and associated equipment. You will operate and maintain reactor and propulsion mechanical systems, steam systems and supporting equipment and systems.
Your training will give you a thorough understanding of reactor, electrical and mechanical theory involved in operating the nuclear reactor, steam plant, propulsion plant and auxiliary equipment. You may specialise further to gain detailed knowledge of reactor and steam plant chemistry and radiological controls.
Whether you have recently finished school, currently studying, already in the workforce or you have no experience at all, we’re hiring. You’ll be paid from day one to gain all the skills needed with extensive on-the-job training, including paid world-class training abroad.
You’ll enjoy a competitive salary package, career stability, opportunities for continuous progression and an adventurous lifestyle, all while making a difference to Australia.
YOUR DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT AREN’T LIMITED TO MAINTAINING:
