Description Position Overview The Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of Offen Petroleum's fleet. This position is responsible for conducting preventative maintenance, performing repairs, installing component upgrades, and applying winterization and corrosion-control measures. The ideal candidate diagnoses issues quickly, maintains a safe and clean shop environment, and ensures equipment remains compliant with all FMCSA, OEM, and company safety standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintenance & Repair Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and scheduled service work to maximize vehicle uptime. Complete component installs, part upgrades, and system adjustments as required. Diagnose mechanical and electronic issues using industry-standard tools and diagnostic software. Carry out timely and high-quality repairs. Troubleshooting & Operational Support Follow operating instructions and troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns Run roadside service calls as scheduled on alternating dates. Safety & Compliance Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Keep all equipment compliant with company, OEM, and FMCSA standards. Meet DOT physical requirements and maintain FMCSA drug and alcohol compliance. Required/Preferred Education & Experience High School diploma or equivalent Verifiable five (5) years or more work experience as a mechanic or similar capacity preferred Level 2 or 3 equivalent preferred Must have Cummins & Detroit mechanic experience. Knowledge of diagnostics and software used in trucking industry. Valid driver’s license. Class (A/B) CDL licenses are always helpful A clean driving record. Work 5-6 days per week. Run roadside service on alternate dates. Willingness to work outdoors in all weather and driving conditions. Working Environment and Physical Demands This position requires the ability to routinely: Lift, push & pull up to 75lbs. repeatedly throughout the course of the shift. Walk, squat, stoop, kneel and bend repeatedly . Enter and exit truck cab multiple times throughout the day. Climb on top of and inspect trailer. Pass a DOT physical and maintain FMCSA drug and alcohol standards.
