Description ALL LEVELS OF EXPERIENCED TECHNICIANS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY. Pay: Starting rate is $34.22 up to $39.92 SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Diesel Mechanics repair all functional parts of diesel buses, including but not limited to Preventive Maintenance, AC/Heating, Engine and Transmission overhauls, Brake Systems, and Electrical Components. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Completes maintenance on all vehicle types and safety equipment, including ordinary mechanical, hydraulic or structural maintenance, repairs and adjustments. Repairs or replaces defective parts or makes changes as instructed. Repairs engines and replaces all external components to include replacing external electronic engine and transmission controls and sensors on Diesel and Gasoline engines. Repairs transmissions and replaces all external components. Replace engine/transmission assemblies and accessories on Diesel and Gasoline engines. Diagnose / Repair / or Replace air system components. Brake system diagnoses, repair or replace. Repairs and replaces all steering and suspension components. Must be able to perform basic electrical repair and diagnoses. Must be able to use a Multi Meter. Performs component replacements including scheduled inspections and repair of wheelchair lifts Performs other duties as assigned OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: This description does not imply that the afore mentioned essential functions are the only duties assigned to the position. Individual holding this position may be required to perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance, Superintendent and or other Maintenance Foremen and Managers. Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED Must be able to work indoor outdoor weather extremes Must be flexible to work any shift 3+ years’ experience on vehicle maintenance, (Truck – Bus – Automotive) Heavy Truck, Bus a plus or a Graduate of a Technical training school. Must have own tools, including, Multi Meter, wrenches up to 1 inch, Sockets & Ratchets Screw Drivers, company provides specialty tools. Preferred Requirements. Fleet Maintenance on Transit Bus, Heavy Truck or Construction Equipment. WORK HOURS: Must be able to work any shift, to include nights, holidays or weekends as shifts hours of work may vary based on seniority rights. If you do not have the CDL, you must obtain a CDL Permit with a Passenger Endorsement within 90 days of hire. Transit Management of Charlotte (TMOC) will assist with the completion of the remaining training to meet the requirements for the CDL. Additionally, TMOC requires all new hires in a safety sensitive role to receive a Department of Transportation (DOT) certification of at least 12 months (1 year).
