Description
The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling mechanical components, sub‑assemblies, and finished products according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment to support quality, safety, and production goals. Key Responsibilities: Assembly & Production Assemble components and products using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and equipment. Interpret and follow engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and work orders. Perform mechanical builds for parts such as brackets, frames, housings, and assemblies. Verify part specifications and measurements using calipers, micrometers, gauges, or other precision tools. Conduct functional tests on assemblies to ensure proper operation and performance. Quality & Documentation Inspect parts and assemblies for defects, deviations, or incorrect specifications. Record production data, inspection results, and any non‑conformances. Follow standardized work instructions and support continuous improvement initiatives. Communicate issues promptly to supervisors, engineering, or quality teams. Safety & Maintenance Operate equipment safely and follow all safety policies and procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free work area (5S). Perform basic preventative maintenance on tools and assembly equipment as needed. Qualifications: Required Skills & Experience High school diploma or GED required. 1–3 years of experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing, or a related field. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics. Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with standard assembly tools. Basic understanding of measurement tools and tolerances. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Preferred Skills Experience in machining, fabrication, or mechanical repair. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (5S, standard work, waste reduction). Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing systems for tracking work.
