Mechanical Assistant Device Coordinator Lead Job Responsibilities: Develops differential diagnosis and plans of care based on data collection and revises plans based on physiological/psychosocial findings. Continually assesses patients' needs and dynamically collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to address actual/potential problems. Plans, implements and evaluates formal/informal Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) education regarding all aspects of care for patients, families, caregivers and community care providers. Collaborates with the research department to ensure validity of INTERMACS registry data. Serves as a regional, state and national consultant regarding the nursing care of patients in area of expertise. Provides formal and informal VAD-specific educational programs to improve team member knowledge and improve quality of care. Oversees and provides education to acute care staff (ED, OR, CVICU, CTU), secondary providers and EMS personnel. Leads VAD coordinator team operations in quality improvement initiatives and assists with process/protocol development and revision. Spearheads initiatives to ensure continuous survey readiness for The Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies. Coordinates orientation for new clinical team members. Identifies education needs and works with clinical manager to support development plans. Assists with performance development journey process. Functions as the team’s Magnet Champion. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Licensure: Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse Experience: 3 years of clinical experience, 2 years of mechanical assist device (VAD, Artificial Heart) or advanced heart failure experience Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing Preferred Qualifications: Certification: VAD-C within 12 months We are Inova, Northern Virginia’s leading nonprofit healthcare provider.
