Job Summary: The Mechanical Assistant – Steam and Gas –safely accomplishes the installation, maintenance, and repair of the heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation applications. Mechanical Assistants receive direction from Lead or Sr. Turbine Mechanics and may work closely with Craft Labor Supervisors, EHS personnel, and the Operations Department to achieve these goals. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Possess knowledge about specific activity tools and be able to use them safely Work on any part of an equipment maintenance project with limited supervision Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb bobs Dismantle machinery and/or equipment as needed Repair and or rebuild large industrial equipment Move, assemble, and install machinery and equipment Travel may be required You may be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values. Required Qualifications & Experience: High School Diploma preferred AND 1 year of “hands-on” experience maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment Possess a valid Driver’s License English proficiency required Desired Characteristics: Experience in industrial outage maintenance desired Basic level capabilities and responsibilities, with +3 year of relevant experience Must have strong mechanical aptitude and experience utilizing handheld and power tools including and mechanical troubleshooting equipment. Experience in a hands-on mechanical position in an industrial environment highly desired. Must have strong mechanical/technical skills. Must have strong organizational skills. Must work well both independently and in a team environment.
