LOCATION: Belfast, Northern Ireland WORKING HOURS: Full Time SALARY: Competitive Job Overview: The Mechanical Building Services Engineer is responsible for the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of all mechanical systems across a large-scale manufacturing facilities environment. The role provides technical leadership and subject matter expertise for mechanical building services plant and infrastructure, ensuring statutory compliance, effective maintenance delivery, and continuous improvement of assets. The post holder will support facilities operations through hands-on engineering oversight, contractor management, and technical assurance of mechanical building services systems. Key Responsibilities: · Maintain compliance with statutory requirements under PSSR, LOLER, PUWER, COSHH, and other applicable legislation. · Maintain accurate mechanical compliance records, certification, and documentation. · Facilitate client insurance inspections and ensure corrective actions are completed. · Participate in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for compliance and mechanical safety. · Develop, review, and maintain mechanical Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) strategies and schedules. · Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance teams and specialist contractors. · Monitor maintenance performance and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to required standards. · Use CAFM systems to manage maintenance activities, asset data, and compliance reporting. · Manage and oversee mechanical contractors undertaking maintenance, repairs, and minor capital works. · Review scopes of work, risk assessments, method statements, and technical submissions. · Conduct site surveys and technical assessments to support project planning and execution. · Inspect completed works and ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and safety requirements. Experience and Skills: Essential: Level 4 qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline. Proven experience working with mechanical systems within a facilities environment. Sound knowledge of mechanical statutory compliance and safety legislation. Experience overseeing contractors and reviewing mechanical works. Competent in the use of CAFM or maintenance management systems. Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Full UK Driving Licence. Desirable: Experience with steam and pressure systems. Experience working on large or complex sites. Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IMechE). NEBOSH - National General Certificate or equivalent health & safety qualification.
