Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Mechanical, the Construction Administrator will assist project managers during the construction phase by overseeing projects from tender award to occupancy. The Construction Administrator will be a highly motivated individual who is interested in being heavily involved in the construction phase of projects. They will be responsible for managing all tasks associated with the construction process including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Perform site reviews to compare construction progress with specifications and project drawings from design team.
  • Be able to see installation issues on site, if they arise
  • Analyze and negotiate price changes with contractors
  • Carry out any other related tasks that may help complete the project
  • Perform other related tasks, including administrative tasks
  • Ensure completion of medium-to-large-scale projects and compliance with plans and specifications
  • Monitor contractors’ compliance with client health and safety rules
  • Determine work costs per standard methods and established plans and specifications
  • Write site notes and notices to contractors to ensure compliance with contractual clauses
  • Take the necessary measures to ensure compliance with laws and regulations or written instructions relating to the work
  • Follow up with the contractor to annotate plans and produce plans as surveyed
  • Monitor schedules and attend site meetings
  • Check progress against plans and specifications
  • Prepare construction review reports
  • Process shop drawings
  • Review progress billings
  • Create and administer change orders and requests for information

Your profile

  • Diploma in a field of study related to the HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, or combination of relevant education and experience,
  • At least five (5) years of experience in the construction field, ten or more (10+ ) years being an asset.
  • Application of Professional Knowledge, Communication, Project Management, initiative, conflict resolution, and teamwork
  • ASP construction card or equivalent, driver’s license, and access to a car,
  • Availability in addition to regular working hours.
  • Work environment: Mixed position (administrative (office) and field)
  • English (written and spoken),
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office,
  • Organized and detail-oriented,
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret design drawings and make strategic recommendations.
