Job Description Responsible for mechanical design and development activities for automation solutions used internally at Agilent manufacturing sites (including proposals, technical and risk assessments, concept studies, detailed designs, analyses, drawings, prototypes, tests, etc.). Propose mechanical architecture/outline, component placement, CAD database management, platform standardization, etc. Responsible for component sizing, calculations, and selection required for the automation systems. Serve as the key estimator for mechanical BOM cost. Produce detailed part and assembly 2D drawings/3D models and prepare the BOM required for procurement. Conduct mechanical engineering tests, characterizations, cyclic tests, and reliability tests according to requirements. Communicate and collaborate with internal teams (PM, marketing/internal customers, test engineers, application engineers, hardware engineers, firmware engineers, software engineers, production engineers, etc.) and external teams (suppliers, design partners, contract manufacturers, etc.). Coordinate and generate mechanical design–related test cases. Ensure mechanical designs meet automation solution requirements and project scope within the targeted timeline. Lead and perform root cause analysis for issues identified during development and sustaining phases. Comply with documentation requirements and database management as specified in the project. Ensure all responsible designs are delivered in accordance with corporate design standards. Part of the implementation and commissioning team at Agilent sites across the globe. Qualifications Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited college or university. Minimum of 8 years of relevant mechanical design experience in a factory automation environment. Experience in designing automation systems, mechanisms, injection‑molded plastics, part/material/component selection, extrusions, elastomeric parts, sheet‑metal parts, metal stampings, interconnects, electro‑mechanical parts, and EMI shielding. Strong technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Demonstrates leadership, influencing, communication, and planning capabilities. A team player who can multitask and establish strong rapport with internal counterparts, cross‑functional team members, and suppliers. Able to adapt well in a dynamic working environment, eager to learn new knowledge, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Able to travel to Agilent sites across the globe based on project needs. Additional Details This job has a full time weekly schedule. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
