Description

An international custom automated assembly line solutions company is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their facility in the Rochester Hills, Michigan area. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years’ experience with custom automated assembly line design. This is a full-time and direct hire position.

MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ design experience in custom automated robotics/machineries/assembly line design
  • Ability to read, interpret, and improve engineering drawings and schematics
  • Ability to do electrical and pneumatic drawings
  • Strong communication and collaboration ability in a multicultural environment
  • Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to collaborate with other colleagues and departments
  • This position includes manufacturing and warehousing/office work environment. While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.

Responsibilities
  • Design and development of the whole automated assembly lines for automotive parts manufacturer and OEMs from the concept
  • Responsible for designing assembly machines, material handling equipment’s, robotics such as screw/tightening machines
  • Communicate with clients to understand the all the requirement including quality, safety, budgeting, and scheduling etc.
  • Develop and maintain engineering drawings, schematics, and Bill of Materials
  • Create records of design changes and project updates for internal and customer use
  • Work with various department (Project Manager, Controls Engineering, manufacturing) until customer’s approval of the design
  • Participate in meetings regarding projects with internal departments and outside customers
  • Assist with improvement and performance analysis
  • Other duties as assigned
