POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for the conceptual development and detailed design of industrial automation systems and machinery, including but not limited to industrial robot cells, end of arm tooling, packaging equipment, machine tending equipment, and conveyor systems. The ideal candidate will have experience designing automated equipment, creating production drawings, and be very proficient with either SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software.
This is a hybrid position. While remote work is possible when responsibilities allow, the engineer must be able to work in the Tigard, OR office on a regular basis to collaborate with the team, support builds, and ensure project success. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Tigard, OR.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical design of automated equipment or machinery.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor).
  • Ability to generate accurate production drawings and BOMs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must live within commuting distance of Tigard, OR and be able to work onsite regularly.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for training, tradeshows/expos, or customer support.
Responsibilities
  • Develop concepts and detailed designs for automation equipment and robotics cells
  • Create 3D models and production drawings using SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
  • Collaborate with project managers, controls engineers, and fabricators to ensure designs meet functional and manufacturing requirements.
  • Support prototype builds, assembly, and testing of designed equipment.
  • Prepare design documentation, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering change notices.
  • Provide input on equipment specifications, safety standards, and cost-effective design solutions.
  • Participate in customer site visits, product training, and industry events as needed.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving design-related issues during installation and commissioning.
  • Assist with other tasks as needed to support business objectives.
