About the Role

Based out of our Tomago facility in the beautiful Newcastle hunter region, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of new products. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a new chapter of a long running successful business that has been operating since 1957.

Reporting to the Tomago site Operations Manager, the role will involve:

• Design new farming/construction implements or other new products depending on the projects at the time.
• Production and testing of product prototypes.
• Produce documentation – required documentation such as manuals, reports, work instruction, drawings, etc. 
• Inspect designed products to ensure specifications and quality requirements are met.
• Research and development work on existing and new products.
• Liaise with suppliers and customers as required to build and test prototypes.
• Assist head office with enquiries relating to newly designed products and product supply requirements.
• Manage product bill of materials.
• Manage documentation in Design Data Management program.
• Ensure that Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental objectives are achieved by establishing a strong commitment to safety and the environment.

Qualifications/Experience

All application will be considered; we are looking for engineers who bring varying skills and experience to the engineering team and product development opportunities.

• Minimum of 2 years experience in a product design and development environment
• Be proficient in CAD – SolidWorks, or similar CAD software highly desirable
• Finite element analysis and mechanical engineering hand calculations
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite 
• Excellent communication, report writing, interpersonal and diagnostic skills
• Problem-solving skills including fault diagnosis and repairs
• Experience designing vehicle/farming/construction implements will be highly valued
• A great work ethic, including a positive can-do attitude combined with a results-oriented approach, proactive and a sense of urgency
• Ability to work both independently and as a team player
• Hands on experience and mechanically minded applicants are desirable
• Experience in hydraulics also desirable
