Description
We are now looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an experienced team working with highperformance grid solutions. In this role, you’ll design and integrate STATCOM valve modules and contribute to substation equipment layout and mechanical integration. What you’ll do Mechanical design of valve modules: IGBT/Thyristorbased modules, busbars, base plates, cooling pipes and related components. 3D CAD & PDM: SolidWorks and Creo for modelling; Windchill for document control. Structural & stress analysis: Perform and/or review analyses (SolidWorks Simulation, Creo Simulation), optimize models for strength, stiffness, and reliability, and evaluate outsourced analysis packages when applicable. Substation layout design: Reactors, precharge resistors, capacitors, CTs/VTs/instrument transformers, transformers—often using AutoCAD. Crossfunctional collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, production, and quality stakeholders and produce clear, highquality technical documentation. The role is located in Tampere. You will be able to work on hybrid model 2-3 days a week at the office. Required qualifications Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Creo Practical experience with Windchill for document/PDM management. Handson structural/stress analysis experience and capability to optimize designs. Exposure to substation equipment layout; AutoCAD skills are a plus. English as the working language (Finnish beneficial but not required). Nice to have Mechanical design experience with power electronics modules (IGBT/Thyristor valves, busbars, base plates, cooling solutions). Familiarity with seismic design principles for substation equipment and ability to review external analysis results.
