YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in mechanical, mechatronic or similar engineering (mandatory).
  • 3-5 years demonstratable mechanical design experience preferably in a defence environment
  • Eligible for RPEQ or NER registration
  • Australian citizen
  • Eligible for a Baseline Security Clearance
  • Experience working in a defence project environment preferred
  • Experience in mechanical design for electronic systems in a maritime environment preferred.
  • Strong skills in 3D AutoCAD Inventor modelling, FEA, and drafting techniques, with familiarity with AS1100 standards.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience designing sheet metal enclosures and working with rack enclosures.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, basic electrical/electronic systems, and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Ability to manage shifting project demands in a dynamic work environment with excellent time management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager:
  • Work with the Project Mechanical Design Team Lead to design and develop mechanical solutions
  • Maintain and update all technical information to ensure that design documents are kept up to date
  • Produce innovative and cost effective mechanical designs
  • Manage and execute engineering change requests (ECRs) and implement improvements based on operational feedback.
  • Review BOMs for accuracy and cost-effectiveness and updating when required.
