Mechanical Design Engineer – Step into a pivotal position within our Pallet Conveyor Systems group, designing and delivering bespoke conveyor technology for high unit load applications. From standard belt and roller systems to innovative custom machinery, you’ll engineer next-generation solutions tailored to each unique project.
You’ll work cross-functionally with our finest minds in project delivery, controls, structural engineering, compliance, manufacturing, and installation. Together, you’ll shape intralogistics systems that move industries forward.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is essential.
  • A master’s degree is a welcome addition, though not required.
  • Proven experience in designing conveyor systems, preferably in material handling or similar industries.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • A structured, methodical approach to engineering challenges.
  • Outstanding problem-solving capabilities and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse, multinational team across the EMEA region.
  • Proficiency in 3D design and CAD tools such as AutoCAD, NX, Teamcenter, or Navisworks.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel a few times per month to project sites in the UK and across EMEA.
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop project-specific approval layouts based on customer and sales input.
  • Translate complex project scopes into detailed mechanical concepts.
  • Review material flow, define special designs, and outline ergonomic workspaces.
  • Conduct mechanical safety assessments and define required safeguards.
  • Collaborate with CE Compliance teams on risk assessments and site safety inspections.
  • Design and plan escape, transport, and maintenance access routes.
  • Coordinate with structural, building, and controls teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Provide technical expertise during customer meetings and engineering reviews.
  • Support interface definitions with suppliers and other trades.
  • Produce detailed layouts, specifications, and installation drawings.
  • Define conveyor components (drives, belts, rollers, guides, platforms, etc.).
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including BOMs, SAP requisitions, and control data lists.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with suppliers.
  • Provide remote and on-site engineering support during installation.
  • Ensure thorough technical handovers to installation and commissioning teams.
