Description
The Design Engineer (Mechanical) will contribute to the mechanical design and development of our product line, supporting the design, development, and production of prototype power distribution and monitoring/metering equipment. This role involves researching, evaluating, and documenting mechanical hardware design and production methods, equipment, systems, and sub-systems to meet requirements, applying knowledge of standards, codes, and engineering design principles. The engineer will assist in developing comprehensive mechanical engineering specifications for engineered to order products (ETO) and support the management and updates throughout the development and manufacturing process. In this function, you will: Develop comprehensive product mechanical designs, installation diagrams & testing plans. Manage and update throughout product development to production release. Develop mechanical aspects of new power distribution & monitoring products, per approved engineering specifications. Test and document new products per approved testing plans. Maintain all design & test documentation within engineering repository system. Support Senior Engineers for the planning and testing and Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) certification of new and existing products. Communicate and support engineering team, designers, and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information. Recommend design modifications to improve product line by following and supporting the ECR/ECN/IS09001 and other quality processes. Prepare cost reduction proposals for new and existing products based on cost trades, design improvements and Value-Added Value Engineering (VAVE) process. Cross-train on other product lines like (PDU, RPP, STS and Magnetics). Create and maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs concepts, tool drawings and shop orders in coordination with the Quality Assurance and Manufacturing functions. Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum three (3) years of experience in mechanical design OR a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of two (2) years work experience in mechanical design Experience in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, Autodesk Vault, or similar programs. Experience in Finite Element Analysis focused on stress and thermal properties. Experience in manufacturing Experience with SAP
