Description:
If you are a Mechanical Design Engineer professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based at our 70+ person Design and Manufacturing facility at our Brenham, TX location, you will support the development of proven technologies, products, and processes to meet quality, performance, cost, and schedule goals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:
- ABET-accredited engineering degree
- Familiarity with parametric CAD software, Creo preferred
- Basic understanding of simple mechanical systems
- Interest or understanding with using LabView to automate
- Familiarity with use of basic hand and small power tools
Responsibilities:
IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
- Apply technical expertise, commensurate with training and minimal job experience, in the development of products and processes involving routine supervised application of proven, well-documented technology with low technical risk
- Design simple products or modify existing products using experience and knowledge of product applications and company standards
- Work primarily in an office environment but regularly work in shop and lab environments
- Manage/create Bill of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing sequence routes following established guidelines
- Initiate routine engineering change authorizations
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, purchasing, marketing, vendors, and customers on routine technical matters of well-documented products
- Prepare product documentation working from example documents
- Be aware of regulatory requirements which affect design and manufacture of product
- Recommend engineering actions to, and guidance and approval from, supervisor before proceeding on engineering projects
- Prepare plans, generally spanning several months, necessary to complete assignments
- Plan activities to complete work assignments or simple projects within established schedules
- Identify assistance needed by other functional groups to complete engineering tasks
- Assure that product and product documentation meet quality requirements
- Participate in failure analysis review, discrepant material review, quality steering committees, product development reviews, design reviews, and peer reviews
- Travel occasionally (~5 days per year) to Emerson facilities for training or project collaboration
FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an engineering school
- Zero (0) or more years applicable experience
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
