Description

Fort Vale Engineering Ltd, based in Simonstone are the World Leader in the design and manufacture of Container Tank Equipment.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

  • knowledge of fundamental engineering theory in mechanical engineering and product design.
  • knowledge of 3D CAD modelling systems.
  • knowledge and experience of CREO and MathCAD.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and assembly.
  • Experience designing / manufacturing pressure equipment to the recognised standards.
  • Previous experience dealing directly with customers, preparing technical specifications and presenting proposals.
  • Experience in Tooling Design (ideal)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines.
  • Ability to produce detailed design calculations.
  • Able to have a good understanding of the materials and limitations of the material used in construction.

QUALIFICATION

  • An Engineering Degree (ideally mechanical) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

Design and development of new products, from concept to final approval. Technically support customers and the manufacturing base. Analyse existing products and identify areas to improve product design and reduce costs.
This is 40 hours per week and fully on site.
Monday to Thursday 07:30 am - 16:45 pm and Friday 07:30 to 12:30 pm
The salary is dependant on skills and experience.

MAIN TASKS OF THE ROLE ARE OUTLINED BELOW:

  • Undertaking design and engineering analysis and support activity including FEA (dynamic, non linear) on design projects within the department and as a dedicated service.
  • Undertake project management for projects as directed by the Design Director.
  • Development and detail product design and engineering from conceptual design through to detailed design and manufacturing implementation support as required across a broad spectrum of manufacturing processes and techniques.
  • Proficiency with PTC CREO 3D CAD package.
  • To perform stress and strain calculations to recognised formula and clearly layout workings within MathCAD.
  • To build good working relationships with other departments within Fort Vale.
