Description
Mechanical design of automated/semi-automated equipment, tooling, fixturing, and support assemblies. The output being design documents to include requirement specifications, CAD models, fabrication prints, detailed assembly prints, end use documentation, and test/check-out specifications. Mechanical design and analysis computations (stress, strain, deflection, safety factors). Finite Element Analysis (FEA), thermal design via calculation, and validation of thermal models using design of experiments. Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to determine optimal air/fluid thermal designs. Advanced development of mechanical design using novel thermal materials and thermal design approaches. Work with the New Product Introduction (NPI) team to ensure proper design for manufacturability, test, assembly, and quality control systems are established. Perform risk assessments and Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) for sub assembly/system designs. Interact and maintain close communication with other engineering disciplines, including controls engineering, electrical engineering, and software engineering, to translate customer requirements into engineering design documents. Ensure prototype/manufactured product performance and manage product verification/validation. Provide technical support (Example: failure analysis, questions, etc.) to any internal or external customer as part of the mechanical development. Support customers and internal audits. Bachelor's degree - Mechanical Engineering 0 - 2 years CAD/FEA Software including SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation, SolidWorks PDM, Solid Edge, Ansys, preferred
Responsibilities
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design of automated and semi-automated equipment, including the creation of design documents and CAD models. They will also perform mechanical design and analysis computations, including stress and thermal design validations.
