ABOUT MODULAR CRANES:

Modular Cranes is Australia’s leading supplier & manufacturer of high-quality Overhead cranes, gantry cranes,
jib cranes, hoists and material handling solutions. To support current engineering projects, we are seeking to engage a high calibre Mechanical Design Engineering to assist with our projects.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Sound and relevant computer skills eg. Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in 2D & 3D AutoCAD /ProE Creo or Solid works 3D Parametric software.
  • Excellent communications skills: interpersonal, listening, oral, and written.
  • Australian Structural Steel work design codes AS3990 & AS4100.
Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of mechanical lifting systems (cranes, hoists, and winches) used in industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
Ensure all mechanical designs adhere to AS 1418 (Cranes, hoists, and winches) and AS 2550 (Safe use of cranes) standards, considering safety, functionality, and efficiency.
Collaborate with purchasing teams to evaluate steel quality, certifications, and compliance to meet the project’s mechanical and safety requirements.
Ensure all lifting systems comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, including the WHS Act 2011 and WHS Regulations 2017, ensuring that all systems operate within safety parameters.
Provide engineering support for troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical failures, implementing design improvements to enhance reliability and longevity.
Collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers, fabrication teams, and other professionals to ensure integrated lifting solutions that meet customer specifications and timelines at worksite
Serve as the primary engineering contact for clients, providing technical support for lifting system design, installation, and commissioning phases.
Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including design drawings, reports, load test results, maintenance manuals, and compliance certifications.
Ensure that all documentation aligns with industry standards and legal requirements, and is available for audits or regulatory reviews.
