Description
As a Design Engineer you will be a valuable member of a design team which is responsible for delivering a range of class leading innovative engineering designs and solutions to satisfy customers. You will support projects in both small to medium volume production environments and one-off special projects and will understand the need to produce designs and plan, organise and drive projects whilst working in collaboration with the manufacturing supply chain in order to meet tight customer deadlines. An exceptional appreciation of the commercial implications of engineering decision making, deliver technical guidance and best practice, along with the ability to turn client-driven requirements into profitable solutions are all critical to this role. You will be a competent individual with an ability to complete design tasks pertinent to the position, completing challenges both individually and as part of a design team, working in collaboration with other team members and colleagues. Responsibilities: All tasks are carried out in accordance with Engineering group policies under the leadership of the Principal Engineer and Product Line Director As part of this team you support local operations and departments as necessary to facilitate the smooth running of the business Propose solutions to design problems in assigned projects Ensure all deliverables are technically in accordance with client requirements Ensure timely and thorough review of client specifications and communication of findings Prepare engineering documents (such as drawings, technical illustrations, manuals, reports and calculations) and basic layouts for designs, or parts of design, ensuring they are completed within the required timescales Support small to medium sized projects as assigned by the Principal Engineer with some supervision Participate in test programs and factory acceptance tests to validate designs Report any design changes which may have a cost or schedule impact to the relevant Product Line manufacturing personnel Attend and participate in client meetings always ensuring customer care is at the foremost position Contribute to the investigation, resolution and documentation of engineering queries in a timely and technically acceptable fashion Liaise with clients and suppliers as required and provide engineering support to all NOV Elmar group companies as required. Remain aware and involved in the latest developments within the industry and the greater engineering world to identify any potential concepts that could be incorporated into new designs Gain familiarity with all company relevant technologies Travel as and when required in order to support business Carry out any other reasonable duties when requested by a line manager. Requirements: BTech/MTech Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Understanding of and working knowledge of AutoDesk Inventor, Lascom, Mathcad, Ansys & FS2000. Working knowledge within a manufacturing environment and within the Energy Industry, specifically with Wireline Systems. Awareness of ISO9001 and API Q1. Relevant experience within Oil and Gas Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic or electro mechanical system design Working knowledge of wireline winches and associated product designs, particularly K-Winch products Design codes: API 6A, 5CT, 16A, 17 and others, NACE, EC Directives and CE Marking, ASME, ATEX, Norsok, EN12079/DNV2.7-1, Puwer and Loler. Working knowledge in structural and stress analysis; calculation by hand, knowledge of design codes including, EC Directives and CE Marking, ASME, ATEX, Norsok, EN12079/DNV2.7-1, Puwer and Loler. Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook).
