Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This is a hands-on design position where you will be responsible for producing accurate drawings, bills of materials, and technical calculations to support the manufacture of complex mechanical systems.
This role is well suited to someone with a strong foundation in 2D design, mechanical systems, and fabrication principles, who enjoys working closely with production teams and customers to bring projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with customers to understand technical requirements and project specifications.
  • Produce accurate 2D CAD drawings and bills of materials.
  • Apply core engineering principles, including forces, moments, volumes, and weight calculations.
  • Interpret and work with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry regulations and safety requirements.
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues and production teams to explain design intent.
  • Support problem-solving during manufacture and be hands-on when needed.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, trainees, or apprentices.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–4 years of experience in a mechanical design or engineering role.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D).
  • Competent user of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, fabrication, and material properties (steel and aluminium).
  • Good understanding of schematic drawings and system layouts.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work to production schedules.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-player mindset.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to take ownership of projects.
  • Willingness to be hands-on when required.
