MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Location: Hackney Wick, London (Fully On-Site)

Package:

  • Compensation: £50,000 + equity (EMI stock options), health insurance, death in service, and competitive pension.
  • 28 days annual leave + 8 UK bank holidays + Christmas shutdown week.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
  • Proficiency in CAD software is absolutely essential, with SolidWorks as the priority. SolidWorks certification (CSWP and above) is a plus.
  • Significant experience in rapid prototyping. Experience with 3D printing is essential.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems electronics and their integration into mechanical designs.
Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking a creative, driven, and adaptable Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and optimising the hardware systems that form the backbone of Sention’s cutting-edge diagnostics technology.
Reporting to the Chief Product Officer (CPO), you will play a critical role in bringing our next-generation systems from concept to reality, working closely with our software team. This is a hands-on role that requires creativity, problem-solving skills, and a passion for precision engineering in a dynamic and fast-moving startup environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Product Design: Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems for our ultrasonic scanning devices.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Create prototypes using in-house or external resources, validate designs through testing, and iterate based on feedback.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with the software team to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into the final product.
  • Optimisation: Analyse and optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and performance while maintaining rigorous quality standards.
  • Documentation: Produce detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and documentation for manufacturing partners and end users.
  • Embedded Systems: Work closely with the team to incorporate embedded systems electronics into the hardware design.
  • Problem-Solving: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues during prototyping and manufacturing stages, implementing innovative solutions.
