JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s New Product Development functions for aftermarket brake caliper upgrade systems and components.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have substantial 3D Design experience in Solid Works, Inventor or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in mechanical design principles.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive hydraulic braking systems and components (i.e., calipers, rotors, brake pads, master cylinders…)
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational, research and analytical skills
  • Able to make and maintain critical project deliverables
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; advanced knowledge of Excel a plus
  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 3 years of design experience
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day project management for all New Product Development functions including;

  • Obtain vehicle data through various sources (SEMA data, OEM component data, historical documents and actual vehicle analysis)
  • Interpretation of mechanical drawings and technical specifications to evaluate product designs
  • Calculate size and fitment for systems and components
  • Design of all components and systems using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks)
  • Conduct FEA and failure analyses to ensure product integrity and manufacturability
  • Develop prototypes in conjunction with the manufacturing/production team
  • Execute trials based upon data analysis to ensure proper fit and function of all components
  • Serve as a technical expert for any production issues
  • Identify and develop different applications that could drive additional business growth in existing or new markets
  • Other assorted office and shop functions as necessary
