TEXTUM OPCO, LLC IS HIRING A MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER FOR IT’S DAYTON, OH COMPOSITE MANUFACTURING OPERATION.
At Textum, we are pioneers in both the advanced textiles and aerospace composites industries, redefining innovation through vertical integration. We control every stage of production back to the basic raw ingredients of the reinforcement fiber yarns and matrix resin formulations. This allows us to deliver precision-engineered textiles and high-performance composites for industries that demand excellence, delivering results faster and more cost-effectively. Textum is not a job shop competing on build-to-print, one-off work. We seek to understand why traditional manufacturing processes are failing and redesign the material from the ground up with an emphasis on manufacturability.
We are looking for a qualified Mechanical Design Engineer to support new product development activities related to composite part manufacturing. This is a mid-career level position. The ideal candidate will have extensive CAD experience, preferably in SolidWorks, and will understand fundamental engineering design principles. The majority of tasking will relate to new part configurations where a customer supplied drawing will result in an engineered part package that will include a dry fiber preform, composite mold, and finished composite part. Both 2D and 3D drawings will need to be routinely generated and communicated to customers and vendors. This individual will coordinate and lead internal activities for design generation, review, and revision and will work with the manufacturing team to understand critical design features that need to be incorporated. They will maintain the database of best design practices for the organization and create tools to rapidly apply those practices to new designs.
REQUIREMENTS
PERFORM A WIDE VARIETY OF ENGINEERING TASKS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: MOLD, TOOLING, AND FIXTURE DESIGNS; 2D AND 3D DRAWING PACKAGES; VENDOR MANAGEMENT; QUALITY CONTROL
