JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Mechanical Designer Engineer to support the development of cutting-edge aerospace systems and components. The ideal candidate will assist with design tasks, perform basic engineering analyses, and contribute to cross-functional project success through strong collaboration and a willingness to learn.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 3+ years working experience designing and bringing new products to production.
  • Experienced with mechanical manufacturing processes and fully understand the integration of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD software. AutoCad or DraftSight experience is also an asset.
  • Solid understanding and experience with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.
  • Analytical and rational minded with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities. Sets goals and objectives.
  • Develops realistic action plans. Uses time efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • “hands-on” type with passion for troubleshooting multi-disciplinary issues and continuous product improvements.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
  • Design firefighting systems to meet functional and performance requirements, applicable regulatory requirements, and cost targets.
  • Prepare engineering documentation necessary for the transition from development to production including mechanical drawings, schematic diagrams, bills of materials, routings, assembly procedures, test procedures, standard operating procedures, and product manuals
  • Coordinate and perform design reviews with focus on manufacturability, supply chain capabilities, quality assurance and product application.
  • Build and test in-house prototypes.
  • Develop beta test programs with customers in coordination with sales team, including travelling to customer sites to support the tests.
  • Perform training of production personnel on new products and components, including in-house manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
  • Lead and implement continuous improvement efforts of established products.
  • Update designs in response to manufacturing issues, parts obsolescence, and system requirement changes.
  • Perform structured root cause analysis of in-process failures.
  • Provide technical support for product repairs and upgrades
