Description Position Overview As an integral member of a cross-functional team, collaborate with Project Engineering, Industrial Design, and Factory Engineering to design and develop new fitness products. Perform a variety of technical assignments to support various projects through the Key Technology (KT) and New Product Development (NPD) processes led by a project engineer. Prepare CAD models and drawings for various components and assemblies. Ensure compliance with product specifications, internal and external standards, and testing requirements. Complete document control tasks relating to the creation, maintenance, organization and improvement of technical related documentation. This is a non-supervisory position. Responsibilities Personnel: • Work with Project Engineer, Industrial Design, Factory Engineer, and other members of the product development team to translate customer requirements into engineering product specifications. • Frequent communication with North America and Asia-based project team members to ensure alignment on technical issues and project deliverables. Product Development: • Create CAD models and drawings for components and assemblies for products from prototype phases through production. • Hold technical design reviews and other engineering meetings to support product development • Develop and maintain estimated tooling/cost estimates • Develop and maintain a structured BOM (Bill Of Materials) • Coordinate with factory engineering to ensure the product is manufacturable and meets the costing requirements defined in the product specification • Determine and maximize container utilization and package size • Participate in DFMEAs, complete or support strength and fatigue analysis of all design proposals to ensure the product meets the design requirements. Support testing to validate strength and fatigue analysis. • Meets all project milestones and deadlines Production Transition support: • Review quality and inspection data, perform product sample reviews and make design decisions, support value-add / value-engineer opportunities for cost and manufacturing efficiency • Support and troubleshoot the introduction of new products into mass production, developing functional requirements and test plans. • Assist Asia-based engineering and factory manufacturing teams on design requirements Marginal Job Functions: • Adaptability to support other projects as assigned Requirements Education: • Two-year technical degree or the equivalent of least 2 years of experience Experience: • 3+ years of design experience • Experience w/ plastic injection molding • Experience designing consumer products preferred Other Requirements: • Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) • Strong mechanical aptitude, with hobbies or projects showcasing your passion for design • Word, Excel, PowerPoint • Ability and willingness to travel both internationally and domestically preferred • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work well with numerous diverse groups and individuals Skills: Interpersonal & Communication: • Can work with a diverse group of people Engineering Knowledge: • ASME Y14.5 • Familiarity with metal and plastic manufacturing processes and secondary operations • 3D CAD (including 2D drawings and 3D models - A-side plastic surfacing & B-side plastics design a plus) • Familiar with the concepts of DFMA • Tolerance stack analysis • Ability to design, select and perform analysis of: bearings, shafts, transmission belts, sheaves & pulleys, keys and key seats, couplings, clutches & brakes, o-rings, retaining rings, springs, cables, fasteners, threads, etc. • Familiarity with numerous materials and their properties including steels, aluminum, and plastics Product and Market Knowledge: • Consumer products development/engineering experience • Has worked on products requiring industrial design • Understands basic fitness knowledge • Understands how customers interface w/product • Understands human ergonomic issues Initiative: • Achieves high % of development target dates • Self-accountability and ownership of individual tasks of project deliverables, proactive Benefits: We offer a competitive compensation package along with outstanding benefits and growth opportunities, including: • Health & Dental Insurance • Company-paid Life Insurance • 401(k) Plan with company contributions • Generous Paid Time Off • Exclusive Product Discounts • Wellness Programs and more EOE/M/W/Vet/Disability #ZR
