Description

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Foxfab is a fast-growing Canadian manufacturer specializing in low-voltage switchboards, control panels, and custom power distribution systems across North America. Known for our quality, innovation, and responsiveness, we serve commercial and industrial clients with custom-engineered power solutions built to meet today’s complex energy demands.

JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a detail-oriented Junior to Intermediate Mechanical Designer with experience in power distribution equipment to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a background in designing NEMA-rated enclosures, switchboards, and electrical control systems, with strong skills in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and a solid understanding of ASME standards, GD&T, and applicable UL certifications — including UL 891, UL 1008, UL 1558, and UL 50.
This position is on-site in South Surrey, BC, and reports to the Mechanical Engineering Team Lead. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of designs from concept through fabrication and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
· 2+ years of experience in mechanical design, ideally in switchgear, panel building, or custom enclosures
· Proficient in SolidWorks (Sheet Metal) and AutoCAD
· Experience with GD&T and ASME design standards
· Ability to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams
· Strong attention to detail, self-driven, and effective communicator

Responsibilities

· Design mechanical components and assemblies for low-voltage switchgear, control panels, and custom enclosures
· Create accurate 3D models and detailed 2D drawings using SolidWorks (including Sheet Metal module) and AutoCAD
· Apply ASME standards to ensure precision and manufacturability
· Interpret electrical single-line diagrams and integrate them into mechanical layouts
· Ensure designs meet relevant standards including: UL 891 – Dead-front switchboards, UL 1008 – Transfer switch equipment, UL 1558 – Metal-enclosed low-voltage power circuit breaker switchgear, UL 50 – Enclosure construction, and NEMA ratings for environmental protection
· Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation
· Collaborate with electrical designers, production, and project management teams to ensure practical, code-compliant design execution
· Support fabrication by reviewing prototypes, resolving issues, and incorporating production feedback
