Description

OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer with a strong intuition for industrial layouts and hands-on experience demonstrated through detailed drawings and 3D modeling.
This role involves designing and modelling mechanical systems for industrial plants, underground stations, pipelines, and associated equipment, while ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver comprehensive mechanical design solutions that support efficient project delivery. A keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to solve design challenges proactively are assets in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop 3D models of industrial plants, underground stations and equipment
  • Design piping layouts and routing in compliance with industry standards and industrial environment requirements.
  • Produce orthographic and isometric drawings, along with material take-offs, and equipment lists.
  • Create and update process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs, PFDs) reflecting actual processes and layouts.
  • Conduct site visits to verify spatial requirements and equipment sizing.
  • Prepare detailed fabrication and shop drawings for equipment and pipe supports to facilitate manufacturing and installation.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to deliver comprehensive mechanical design packages.
  • Contribute to engineering consulting projects within the mining and mineral processing industries.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical/piping design and drafting
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (including Plant 3D) or MicroStation for drafting and 3D modeling
  • Strong knowledge of piping standards (e.g., ASME), fabrication techniques, and industrial safety requirements
  • Highly organized and proactive, with strong attention to detail
