JOB SUMMARY

The Mechanical Designer executes design tasks and technical projects as assigned. They work closely with the Product managers, manufacturing, and purchasing departments to complete design projects and to make continuous improvements to designs and products.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ Years of relevant design experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Diploma in Engineering Technology
  • Proficiency with Solidworks or Inventor and PDM software
  • Must have Canadian citizenship or a Canadian work visa.
  • Experience with ASME section VIII Pressure Vessel Design is considered an asset
Responsibilities
  • Detailed creation of CAD models and drawings
  • Create Technical product specifications, Sizing of mechanical components (piping, pumps, valves, etc.)
  • Work with Vendors, Subcontractors, and Purchasing to obtain materials and services needed for projects
  • Ensure drawings, designs, and BOM’s are completed on time and adhere to the established specifications and standards
  • Contribute to and assist in the management of production CAD database(s)
  • Facilitate and execute engineering change orders (ECO)
  • Maintain engineering master data completeness and accuracy (item data, BOM, routings)
  • Collaborate and support drafting resources as needed
  • Optimize component, product designs for performance, cost, standardization, and manufacturability. Identify opportunities to eliminate expenses that do not add value to the process or product, and within the scope of authority of the position, implement the reduction
  • Work “hands-on” with manufacturing to resolve any problems encountered in the fabrication and construction of experimental or production machines
  • Peer review of drawings and technical documents
  • Maintain project information in the Engineering Project Management software
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable standards, codes, and regulations
