QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent technical training in drafting, design, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of proven experience as a Mechanical Drafter, preferably in product design, furniture, or a related manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks is highly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of drafting principles, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and common manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create complex technical drawings and specifications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic startup environment, including cross-cultural communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Ecolution Design US is the newly established extension to Ecolution Design in the Netherlands, a dynamic and innovative company dedicated to creating cutting-edge, sustainable product solutions. Here in Grand Rapids, Michigan, we’re building our independent US operations, and we’re seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Drafter to join our foundational product development and engineering team.
In this pivotal role, you’ll be instrumental in translating our design concepts into precise technical drawings and specifications. You’ll work directly with our US team, while also collaborating with our Dutch counterparts, to ensure accuracy and efficiency as we bring our visions to life. If you have a keen eye for detail, strong technical drawing skills, and a desire to contribute to innovative product solutions at a fast-paced, globally connected company, we want to hear from you! This is an in-person only role at our Grand Rapids, Michigan office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (DRAFTING & DOCUMENTATION)

  • Create accurate and detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and technical drawings for various components, assemblies, and finished products using SolidWorks or similar software.
  • Prepare precise Bills of Material (BOMs) and part lists, ensuring accuracy and completeness for manufacturing.
  • Revise and update existing drawings and documentation based on engineering change orders (ECOs) and feedback from manufacturing or quality teams.
  • Ensure all drawings adhere to industry standards and our internal drafting best practices, aligning with global design standards.
  • Manage and organize drawing files effectively within our system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (COLLABORATION & SUPPORT)

  • Work closely with our US Team to refine designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
  • Collaborate with our manufacturing partners to address drawing interpretation questions and provide technical support during production.
  • Assist in creating clear assembly instructions and visual aids.
  • Participate in design reviews, offering valuable input on drawing clarity and potential manufacturing challenges.
