We are a leading manufacturing company specializing in the custom fabrication of glass handling, material handling, and window and door fabricating equipment. We specialize in custom fabrication and pre-engineered production line solutions for the glass, window, and door manufacturing sectors. The Mechanical Designer will create detailed mechanical designs, 3D models, and engineering drawings for material handling equipment, custom machinery, and equipment, guiding projects from initial concept through to production. This role demands strong CAD expertise, a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and cost objectives. Additionally, the Mechanical Designer will establish, maintain, and improve design standards to enhance efficiency, consistency, and quality across all projects.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM - Permanent, Full-time

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
· Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Inventor). Minimum of 5 years of CAD Experience.
· Minimum of 5 years’ working experience in a manufacturing setting.
· Experience creating drawings for a fabrication shop environment.
· Knowledge of mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes.
· Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
· Strong background in steel fabrication, including knowledge of fabrication techniques, material properties, and shop practices.
· Experience in developing and implementing engineering or drafting standards is an asset.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
· Knowledge, application and adherence to technical and safety standards, industry best practices and regulations.
· Adhere to company and customer site safety protocols, use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and actively participate in safety training and hazard prevention practices.
· Knowledge of Pneumatic, & Hydraulic Systems.
· Collaborate with sales team to support calls and to provide technical support.

Responsibilities

· Use Autodesk Inventor /Vault/2D AutoCAD to create drawing specifications in line with the needs of the client.
· Develop designs based on project requirements, engineering calculations, and industry standards.
· Establish, document, and maintain mechanical design standards, templates, and best practices.
· Review design concepts with stakeholders to incorporate feedback and improvements.
· Ensure designs meet applicable codes, safety regulations, and manufacturing capabilities.
· Work closely with manufacturing, purchasing, and quality teams to ensure designs are optimized for production.
· Maintain accurate documentation, revision control, and design records.
· Participate in design reviews, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical and fabrication issues.
· Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for design processes and standards.
· Generate Bill of Materials (BOMs) for both purchased parts and raw manufactured materials as required
· Look for ways to complete jobs in a more efficient manner
· Coordinate with purchasing and production to ensure part quality and timing
