WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical/Electrical / Hydraulic Technician to join our Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and hydraulic circuit drawings for controls and components and have some mechanical knowledge as well.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design or related discipline
  • Minimum 2 year’s working experience as a CAD Technician, Electrical Designer or similar role, with direct experience with PLC programming
  • Minimum 2 years’ of CAD (Auto-CAD Mechanical, and Solid-Works Software) experience
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV or other ERP experience considered a strong asset
  • Experience in a fast pace environment with an aptitude for time management and multi-tasking
  • Possess a positive attitude and work well in a team environment
  • Good attention to detail and quality of work
Responsibilities

ELECTRICAL/HYDRAULIC DESIGN = 35% OF ROLE

  • Develop electrical and hydraulic circuits and component layouts
  • Use appropriate CAD software to prepare circuit, assembly and detailed drawings, complete with Bill of Materials. Input information into the ERP system as required
  • Maintain and revise software databases and related code, within the electrical and hydraulic area (including but not limited to, PentaPack and E/H Selection database)
  • Develop specifications; source and order non-stock e/h components and customer power units
  • Develop PLC programs and program PLC’s for simple and complex equipment (complex products may have multiple interface units)
  • Support order processing in the design and placement of special/non-standard electrical and hydraulic components and systems
  • Review and release electrical and hydraulic orders for special/non-standard orders to manufacturing
  • Support order processing in the preparation of concept, approval and confirmation drawings for the Sales department
  • Ensure conformance to most recent revisions of the QPS, electrical codes and other standards for the components and/or equipment being designed and built
  • Coordinate and confirm all QPS documentation requirements
  • Analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine design requirements, taking into account technical capabilities of components available and manufacturing operations
  • Confer with Production and Mechanical Design staff to clarify or resolve any issues that may arise
  • Troubleshoot and modify designs; recommend corrective actions as required
  • Recommend design improvements and/or standards for systems and components
  • Prepare test procedures for Electrical Assembly Group

MECHANICAL DESIGN = 65% OF ROLE

  • Draft detailed multi-view drawings of machine and subassemblies (including specifications for cylinder size & force, hydraulic pressure, beam/pin sizes), while adhering to applicable standards and regulations
  • Prepare circuit, assembly and detailed drawings, complete with Bills of Material
  • Complete sales and approval drawings for customers as well as processing of custom product estimates
  • Gather technical information to create configurable drawing for custom orders
  • Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts
  • Determine materials required and create purchase requisitions
  • Troubleshoot and modify designs and recommend corrective actions as required
  • Enter production order data into ERP system
  • Register internal part numbers and enter Bill of Materials in the ERP system as required
