We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical & Electrical Technicians to Join our Water Production team to work out of our Farmoor Water Treatment Works in Oxford, OX2 9NS.
As a successful candidate, you will be working in multi-discipline teams and will be responsible for carrying out scheduled, planned, reactive, out-of-hours and emergency maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdown. Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING AS THE MECHANICAL & ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN

  • Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
  • You will investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
  • Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD’s, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
  • Participate in a standby rota following the relevant training.
    Base Location: Farmoor - Oxford - OX2 9NS.
    Working Pattern: 38 Hours per week, Monday- Friday, 7:30am – 3:36pm, plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE ROLE

  • To be a time-served apprentice with an NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical and electrical qualifications.
  • Experience working on large industrial plant equipment, including various pumps within the utilities industry, would be beneficial. It would suit mechanical maintenance/service engineers or mechanics from any industry.
  • 18TH Edition would be beneficial, but not a requirement, but one must be willing to obtain it during probation.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential.
  • The work will require physical fitness as you will work in manual handling and often in physically demanding roles.
  • Be able to work in restricted areas.
  • A valid driving licence is essential, and all necessary equipment, such as tools, are provided.
