NEW OPPORTUNITY WITHIN OUR ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT FOR A MECHANICAL ENGINEER!

· Role Function: Mechanical Engineer
· Reporting to: Engineering Manager
· Location: Ulverston (office based)
· Working hours: 37.5 hour (Flexi system) Monday to Friday
· Salary: £28,000 + per annum (depending on experience)
· Contract: Permanent appointment
· Start date: TBC

JOB SUMMARY:

The mechanical engineer role is critical to the smooth delivery of projects, and you may be required to engineer several projects at the same time, or one large project. The ability to liaise technically and commercially with colleagues, customers and suppliers is essential.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Experience in using CAD
  • At least two years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer
  • Efficient time management
  • Good attention to detail
  • IT literate
  • Good communication skills
  • Flexibility
  • A good team player

PREFERABLE SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

· Experience with preparation of 3D CAD drawings
· Experience in a commercial environment
· Experience working in Electrical protection sector

Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

  • Interpret customer’s technical drawings and requirements.
  • Produce manufacturing panel arrangements/fabrication drawings.
  • Produce BOMs to enable procurement of all mechanical items.
  • Produce and issue any drawings deemed necessary to allow review, approval and/or production of the required system design.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

· Coordinate with Lead Design Engineers and other Mechanical/Electrical Engineers.

· Work within any procedures, guidelines or specifications set by Acrastyle, the customer, any relevant electricity supply industry, and/or any relevant international organisational/standards.

  • Participating in the tender to project team handover meetings, where appropriate.
  • Participating in both internal and external meetings, such as project kick-offs and project reviews.
  • Conduct site surveys (where appropriate) at Customer sites respecting all relevant Health and Safety rules.
  • Help in maintaining or improving the project budget by use of “standard” parts and designs to minimise material and labor cost.
  • Work within any procedures, guidelines or specifications set by Acrastyle, the customer, any relevant electricity supply industry, and / or any relevant international organisation / standards to produce and issue any drawings deemed necessary to allow review by the client and subsequent comment / approval of the required system design.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders including customers and suppliers.
