Description

Adecco is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join a dynamic Maintenance Engineering team at a leading mining operation in Fort McMurray. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for an experienced engineer passionate about reliability, continuous improvement, and impactful, cost-effective solutions.

  • Location: Fort McMurray, AB (on-site)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday | 40 hours/week

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation preferred or eligibility to register
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in an operating facility, troubleshooting equipment and improving reliability
  • Strong expertise in fixed plant equipment (e.g., crushers, conveyors, hoppers, screens, slurry pumps)
  • Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis and reliability metrics
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems, SAP/S4, and Fieldglass is an asset
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative mindset
  • Self-motivated, client-oriented, and capable of working independently and within a team
  • Must be local to Fort McMurray or willing to relocate

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the primary liaison between Production Units and the Rotating Engineering team, ensuring clear communication and alignment
  • Participate in daily and weekly Production Unit meetings to support equipment availability and operational decision-making
  • Monitor equipment health, troubleshoot failures, perform root cause analysis, and develop long-term reliability solutions
  • Issue scope of work and inspection recommendations for outages and routine maintenance
  • Analyze equipment wear, recommend one-time cost-effective repairs, and report reliability metrics for various equipment classes
  • Apply continuous improvement strategies to increase equipment uptime and reduce operating costs
  • Provide regular updates and reports to stakeholders on progress, issues, and proposed solutions
